Kalel "Cat Killer" Cullen's Hybrid Cat
Kalel tweeted about how she is making a deposit on a new kitten. She had multiple followers tweet back asking if it was from a shelter, and she replied back saying that she doesn't support shelters. The cat she wants is a hybrid cat, bred to perform differently than a regular domestic cat, which is the one she WANTS. Not only are hybrid cats completely unnecessary, but there are millions of animals that die in shelters every year. She thinks that we are merely jealous because we don't have a hybrid cat. Let me tell you something: I would rather have a cat from a shelter than a cat from a breeder any day. I would never be able to live with myself for neglecting an animal in need, but apparently Kalel can live with herself.
She tried to justify the situation by saying that the media makes it seem like animals in shelters are worse off than they really are. She acts like shelters don't euthanize animals every day due to lack of funding and adoptions. Apparently life is to short to help a dying cat, therefore make sure you buy hybrid cats from breeders, because that is what is important in life. I work in a cat shelter, and I love each and every cat there. They are no different than any other cat, except that they are homeless.

I see where you are coming from.. but my parents breed dogs, and I'd pick a full-bred dog over a random 'cross' of breeds any day.. I'm aware that the other dogs need help, no doubt about it, but I just prefer knowing what I get.
ReplyDeleteumm I've bought cats from shelters before and they all have had very sad short lives, it was very depressing and i'm not about to keep buying pets and watching them die right after i get them. There's good and bad things about everything, you should focus more on the people who have animals and abuse them or neglect them, not going after someone who buys a pure breed. I love animals but this is going to far.
ReplyDeletenot to say i don't agree with saving animals without homes, i just think your energy can be put to better use then this, there's a lot of other things you can do for the animals rather then the internet you know?
